Transit Resources was founded by United States Navy veteran Joseph Kay and is now owned and operated by retired Marine Sergeant Jon Ebanks. The company is a systems general contractor and a parts and smarts provider. We design, furnish, install, test, commission, maintain, repair, and inspect electrical and electronic equipment for vital and non-vital applications. We are specialized in the transportation sector. We provide design build and build to print services for heavy and ligh rail infrastructure and systems found in bus depots, rail car maintenance facilities, and transportation system including airport facilities.
About Jon Ebanks
Jonathan was born and raised in Woodhaven, Queens, New York and is the son of Cristina and Joseph Kay. He has a son named Jonathan (JR) whom is an active duty Marine and a daughter Olivia Marie whom is in pre-school. Jonathan grew up playing organized sports (Baseball, Football, Basketball) all of his childhood years. In June of 1999 he graduated from East Stroudsburg High School. Jonathan was sworn into law as a Peace Officer in Monroe County, Pennsylvania on February 18, 2002 and received two drug enforcement awards as well as a Life Saving award during his time in law enforcement. He enlisted in The United States Marine Corps in 2006 and graduated boot-camp with Golf Company, 2D Battalion in Parris Island, South Carolina. Jonathan's military occupation specialties were critical skills operator and field radio operator.
He conducted various training and missions with a secret clearance while attached to 3D Marine Special Operations Battalion, 22D Marine Expeditionary Unit, 8th Communications Battalion, 3D Battalion/4th Marines HumanIntel Exploitation Team and 3D Marine Regiment. As a communicator, Jonathan installed, operated, maintained and troubleshot radio communications in air, land and sea environments during training, humanitarian, and combat missions. The type of radio communications Jonathan operated with were data and voice through VHF (very high frequency), UHF (ultra high frequency), HF (high frequency) and SATCOM (satellite). Jonathan handled radios made by Harris Corporation as well as Motorola, furthermore, he worked with GETAC and Panasonic tough books. Jonathan operated radios and tough books to establish and provide a secured means of communication for various reasons during foot patrol, mobile patrol, flight operations, ship operations, and or fixed post operations. Line of sight and satellite voice and or data communication frequencies would rangefrom 3-30 MHz (HF), 30-300 MHz (VHF), and 300-3000 MHz (UHF). The use of communications Jonathan utilized were for sending and receiving messages as well as images.
Jonathan retired from active duty in 2015 as a Sergeant with a prestigious record of service and is an Operation Enduring Freedom combat veteran. He possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and is currently pursuing an M.B.A. from the Peter J. Tobin College of Business – St. John’s University..
